J'accuse (the ASA)

I found it very bizarre that the ASA came out against the Gay Police Association for "implying that Christians were the main source of homophobic persecution". This result is definately political, afterall, the advert was implying that Christians were the main source of homophobic persecution. The ASA is hiding behind political correctness in order not to deal with the truth. Any Christian can justify a homophobic attack very easily and, until political correctness arrived in Parliamentary and Ecclesistical decision-making, was either ignored or quite happily pursued in public speeches, papal bulls and learned sermons. In America, homophobia is a benchmark of many evangelical deliveries, with an enthusiastic and appreciative audience. So, the ASA is either cowering away from a pblic and messy bunfight in the current religious (in)tolerance debates, or it has assumed a position as arbiter of which parts of the bible are now redundant. All it has achieved here is to smother a much needed debate.
