J'accuse (the ASA)

I found it very bizarre that the ASA came out against the Gay Police Association for "implying that Christians were the main source of homophobic persecution". This result is definately political, afterall, the advert was implying that Christians were the main source of homophobic persecution. The ASA is hiding behind political correctness in order not to deal with the truth. Any Christian can justify a homophobic attack very easily and, until political correctness arrived in Parliamentary and Ecclesistical decision-making, was either ignored or quite happily pursued in public speeches, papal bulls and learned sermons. In America, homophobia is a benchmark of many evangelical deliveries, with an enthusiastic and appreciative audience. So, the ASA is either cowering away from a pblic and messy bunfight in the current religious (in)tolerance debates, or it has assumed a position as arbiter of which parts of the bible are now redundant. All it has achieved here is to smother a much needed debate.

Butter wouldn't melt in Labours mouth?

I'm rather amused at Mr Griffiths complaining that we've been using money given to us without adequate checks on the source. This surely only denotes the chutzpah of Mr Griffiths and is completely laughable in consideration of the number of donation and loan issues Labour themselves are experiencing,. The timing is also amusing whilst the police investigation into Lord Levy's fundraising sources remains open.

Finances are the sinews of war, and to complain that extra resources are being used by other parties in his own seat is pure comedy, does Mr Griffiths take his seat for granted, or that his seat came without considerable contributions from Labour's own coffers? Or did he win it from the back of a crisp packet? Muppet.

Come Fly with me.....

Anyone else watching The Money Programme?? Woah! Virgin and BA accused of ganging up together with other airlines and are facing some serious inquiries. Has the BBC landed a chocie cat amongst the pigeons? Will legislators be treated to a duck shoot? Who knows? Two BA senior executives have already resigned. It's almost like someone let off a nuclear bomb!

Job Q

Has anyone been a policy advisor? If so, what was your first position as one? Was it what you expected? How much of it is your own work and how much of it is glueing together what your organisation wants?
